NFPA 70 National Electrical Code 2023 Article 700 Emergency Systems 700.12(G): 700.12(G) Microgrid systems

A microgrid may include on-site sources that are designated for emergency duty if the emergency system is isolated from all other loads when normal supply is lost, or load management meets 700.4; failure of normal or other sources must not reduce what the designated emergency sources can deliver or for how long; stored-energy sources designated for emergency duty may stay connected to other production sources if their failure does not affect operation (2026: 700.12(F)).
