Battery-equipped emergency luminaires are listed and fixed in place, wired by a Chapter 3 method (cord up to 3 ft for unit equipment, or up to 6 ft for luminaires installed under 410.62(C)(1)); fed from the normal lighting branch circuit ahead of local switches, from a circuit that monitors the area's normal lighting, or from a separate circuit off the same panelboard with a lock-on disconnect; the feeding circuit is identified at the panel; remote heads are wired to the article's rules; and exterior exit-door lighting may come from the unit just inside the door (2026: 700.12(G)).
