Chapter 6: Transfer switches and protection – NFPA 111-2025 Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 111-2025 Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems 6.2.1-6.2.3: 6.2.1 to 6.2.3 Transfer switch ratings and classification

Transfer switches, electrical, electronic or hybrid, separate or integral to the ECE, are rated to move all connected loads from the energy converter to the building supply and back, sized for those loads and every load class, isolate the load from the alternate sources, withstand the available fault current, fail so the load ends up on the building service, and can have their operation checked. Each is listed for emergency service as a factory assembled and tested unit, unless it is an integral part of listed ECE.
