NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems
Chapter 5: Emergency power supply: energy sources, converters and accessories – NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems 5.6.8-5.6.9: 5.6.8 and 5.6.9 Exhaust piping, generator, exciter and voltage regulation

Where applicable the exhaust has a muffler matched to the set plus a flexible length. Generators comply with NFPA 70 Article 445: dripproof with amortisseur windings, suited to the site environment, factory tested as a unit with exciter and regulator, and at full load matching the normal source nominal voltage at the transfer switches. Regulators respond to load changes (anti-hunt where needed), performance gives stable voltage and frequency to full load, droop to user needs, no relay dropout on the largest load step, and frequency recovery within the user's need; Level 1 instrument panels carry per-phase voltmeter and ammeter (or selector), frequency meter, plus or minus 5 percent voltage adjustment and a kW or kVA meter.
