NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems 5.3: 5.3 Temperature maintenance of the energy converter

The EPS must be heated as needed to hold jacket water and battery at the temperatures the manufacturer sets for cold start and load acceptance within the type; fuel cell units need a thermal management system per their listing and site. Prime mover heaters switch off automatically while the engine runs (air-cooled engines may keep a lube oil heater), antifreeze follows the maker's advice, ether starting aids are banned, and a room or housing holding Level 1 rotating equipment must settle at 4.5 C (40 F) or more when idle.
