An entity must give practitioners broad information about professional indemnity insurance, including that the National Code of Conduct for Health Care Workers (for those not registered under the National Law) says a health care worker should ensure appropriate insurance, and must evidence processes and information that make practitioners follow that Code. The entity should encourage all practitioners (non-practising, self employed and employed, but not students) to review cover each year, including run-off cover for those retiring, and should take legal advice on how this is communicated.
