NASRHP Self-Regulating Health Profession Certifying Entity Membership Standards (Australia) S8: Standard 8: Require overseas qualified applicants to show English language at stated test scores

An English language policy must apply at certification and state that, unless an exemption applies, applicants must show the right level of English by accepting at least two of IELTS Academic (overall 7 and 7 in each component), OET (at least B in each of four components), PTE Academic (overall 65 and 65 in each skill) or TOEFL iBT (total 98 with 24 listening, 24 reading, 27 writing and 23 speaking); higher entity minimums are expected in some cases and the policy should say who pays. Exemptions may cover completion of a program delivered in Australia and accredited by the entity, or a relevant tertiary qualification completed in English in New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States. Original or certified results are needed and must be no more than two years old at application (the earlier sitting counts for two sittings), unless the applicant has been continuously employed as a certified practitioner in English starting within 12 months of the test and applies within 12 months of the last employment. Testing is required only on initial application.
