NASRHP Self-Regulating Health Profession Certifying Entity Membership Standards (Australia) S7: Standard 7: Require at least 20 hours of continuing professional development a year, audited at 5 per cent

A mandatory CPD program must apply to certified practitioners on an annual cycle (financial or calendar year) with at least 20 hours a year (or a points system equivalent to it) and prescribed categories giving a balanced mix of work-based activity, courses and conferences and self-directed learning, including a mandatory minimum of skills and knowledge activity relevant to the practitioner's current practice area. Practitioners should keep an annual plan and a reflective log, and the entity should encourage ethics, supervision, mentoring and cultural safety content and give links to suitable activities. Reductions must be available by written application for personal circumstances or hardship (not a waiver except in extreme cases) and extensions may be offered. Practitioners must declare compliance at recertification, and the entity must run an annual randomised audit of at least 5 per cent of practitioners (including newly certified and resuming practitioners), with defined audit outcomes linked to a management process, and require evidence to be kept for a stated period.
