Minnesota Rules of the Board of Continuing Legal Education 14A-C: Emeritus status: retired, restricted lawyers limited to referred pro bono work after an affidavit showing recent credits

What does 14A-C require?

A lawyer whose Retirement Affidavit is on file under the lawyer registration rules and elected restricted status may elect emeritus status, which permits only pro bono representation of a pro bono client coming by referral from an approved legal services provider. Before representing anyone the lawyer files the Appendix IV emeritus affidavit listing the courses attended in the preceding year: one ethics credit, one elimination of bias credit, one mental health and substance use credit, and either three credits in the substantive area of the intended pro bono work or the legal services provider's confirmation that the lawyer is qualified in that subject.
