Clause 7.2: Respond (early warning, protecting and securing people, response organisation) – ISO/TS 22330:2018

ISO/TS 22330:2018 7.2.3.6: Account for people rapidly with maintained records and layered notification

What does 7.2.3.6 require?

Confirming the safety of the workforce, including visitors on site, and summarising what that shows and means is a top priority, needing well-practised resources that work with every response role. The process provides rapid, accurate information on where people are and how they are affected, the precise number and identity of injured and fatalities, confirmation of who is safe, how status changes as the event evolves, and controls for cross-checking; it recognises a dispersed and mobile workforce of employees, contractors and third parties based at sites, at home or travelling, and extends to tracing people from other sites and countries. The organisation should always have up-to-date workforce records including normal place of work and line manager, assign responsibility for maintaining that data, routinely test that the system and its backup are reachable and reliable, keep a current people-on-site list available, and ensure building access control systems can be reached remotely. Alongside local alarms, web-based two-way mass notification lets the organisation reach people quickly, lets individuals confirm whereabouts, status and needs, and carries updates and instructions; knowing the coverage it achieves, the organisation should plan to fill gaps through call trees, line manager contacts, enterprise social networks, social media and other crisis tools.
