The organization should identify, supply and keep up the tools and methods needed to develop, maintain and improve its innovation management system. It should consider choosing a combination of tools and methods that suits its innovation activities and the different kinds of innovation; making people aware of the tools and methods available, giving access to them and training in them; and sharing, reusing and collaborating in how they are used. Tools and methods may be descriptive, provocative, participative, challenging, analytical or communicative, and may take the form of templates, guides, instructions, games, presentations, software, hardware or videos; examples include scenario planning, back casting, brainstorming, ethnographic research, inclusive design, idea management and templates for business models.
