Clause 7: Integrating social responsibility throughout an organization – ISO 26000:2010

ISO 26000:2010 7.7.3: Reviewing an organization's progress and performance on social responsibility

What does 7.7.3 require?

Beyond everyday monitoring, an organization should hold reviews at suitable intervals to establish how well it is meeting its social responsibility targets and objectives and which programmes and procedures need changing. Reviews compare results across the core subjects with those of earlier reviews and take in aspects that are harder to measure, such as how people regard social responsibility, how far it is built into the whole organization, and how closely principles, statements of values and practices are followed, with stakeholders taking part. They should ask: were the objectives and targets met as planned; were the strategies and processes a good fit for the objectives; what succeeded and why, and what failed; were the objectives the right ones; what could have gone better; and was everyone who should have been involved actually involved. From the answers, the organization should work out which changes would correct weaknesses and lift performance.
