An organization should set up ways of settling conflicts or disagreements with stakeholders that suit the kind of conflict and are of real use to the stakeholders affected. Examples include talking directly with affected stakeholders; written material to clear up misunderstandings; forums where the organization and stakeholders set out their positions and search for answers; formal procedures for handling complaints; mediation or arbitration; systems that let people report wrongdoing without risk of retaliation; and other grievance routes. It should make full details of these procedures available to stakeholders and keep them fair and open; the grievance mechanisms for human rights (6.3.6) and for consumers (6.7.6) cover the specific cases.
