ISO 26000:2010 7.6.2: Enhancing the credibility of reports and claims about social responsibility

What does 7.6.2 require?

Ways an organization can make its reports and claims more credible include: making them comparable over time and with reports of similar organizations, allowing for its type, size and capacity; explaining briefly why any topic is left out of a report; using a thorough, responsible verification process that follows data and information back to a dependable source; having people who took no part in preparing the report, whether internal or external, carry out the verification; including in the report a published statement confirming that verification took place; asking stakeholder groups to confirm that the report covers the relevant, significant issues, meets their needs and deals with the issues in full; going further on openness by presenting information so that others can check it easily, for example the sources and methods behind figures and where supply chain activities happen; and stating conformity with an external body's reporting guidelines.
