ISO 26000:2010 7.6.1: Methods of enhancing credibility

What does 7.6.1 require?

An organization builds credibility in several ways: through stakeholder engagement, where dialogue creates trust and can bring stakeholders into checking the organization's claims and reviewing or monitoring parts of its performance from time to time; through taking part in certification schemes covering product safety, effects on the environment, labour practices and other matters, as long as the schemes are independent and credible; through involving independent parties, such as advisory or review panels made up of credible people; through joining associations of similar organizations that encourage responsible conduct; and through making relevant commitments about its impacts, acting on them, assessing how it is doing, and reporting both progress and where it has fallen short.
