An effective and efficient project quality management system depends on the commitment and active involvement of top management on both sides: the originating organization as well as the project organization. Top management in both should build a culture of quality, which strongly influences project success, and should contribute to the strategic process (clause 5.2). Because the project organization will probably be disbanded at the end, the originating organization's top management should make sure continual improvement actions are carried out for this and later projects. Top management in both should foster a culture in which lessons learned drive ongoing improvement of current and future projects.
