A manufacturer may appoint an EU-established authorised representative by written mandate; the representative does only what the mandate says, may not take on the manufacturer's design and technical documentation duties, and must at least be able to keep the declaration and technical documentation for the authority for five years, supply conformity information on reasoned request, and cooperate on action against non-compliance.
