Iowa Client Trust Account Rules (Iowa Court Rules Chapter 45) 45.3: Use only an insured, Iowa-authorised institution and keep trust funds available without delay

What does 45.3 require?

Each trust account under rule 45.1 earns interest or dividends and sits at a bank, a savings bank, a trust company, a savings and loan or savings association, a credit union or a federally regulated investment company, chosen with ordinary prudence. The institution is authorised by federal or state law to operate in Iowa and is insured by the FDIC or the NCUSIF; credit union accounts are used only to the extent each client's funds are within the insurance limit. Funds are placed where they can be withdrawn or transferred as soon as needed, subject only to any notice period the law imposes on the institution.
