Iowa Client Trust Account Rules (Iowa Court Rules Chapter 45) 45.1-a: Hold client and third-person funds in an identifiable interest-bearing Iowa trust account

What does 45.1-a require?

Money that comes to a lawyer from a client or a third party in connection with Iowa practice is deposited into at least one identifiable, interest-bearing trust account at a financial institution that has a branch physically located in Iowa. The account is labelled as a trust account so that the bank and anyone reading a statement can tell it from an operating account. Property other than money that belongs to clients or third persons is identified as theirs and kept safe in an appropriate way.
