Iowa Client Trust Account Rules (Iowa Court Rules Chapter 45) 45.2-1: No endorsing or signing in the client's name without express prior authority

What does 45.2-1 require?

When funds or other property arrive in which a client or an outside party holds an interest, the lawyer does not endorse or sign that person's name on any cheque, draft, security, encumbrance, transfer of real or personal property or other document unless the person gave express authority beforehand. A lawyer who signs an instrument on someone's behalf marks the representative capacity with initials or signature.
