Where a person appointed to a corporate Commonwealth entity is, or sits on, its accountable authority (including by virtue of the position held) and breaches the general duties of officials or the rules made under them, the person who made the appointment may end it, subject to any requirements in the rules. Termination is effected by a signed written notice to the appointee that sets out the reasons, and the appointer must then have a copy of the notice laid before both Houses within 15 sitting days of each House after the notice was given. The rules may shield particular positions from termination, and the power sits alongside any termination provision in the entity's enabling legislation.
