A short notice cancellation or no-show is claimable, up to the agreed fee, only where the item allows cancellation claims, the service agreement sets the cancellation terms, and the provider could not find other billable work for the worker and must pay them (unless a sole trader or partnership). In 2025-26 the window was less than two clear business days' notice for most non-support-worker supports and less than seven days for disability support worker supports; providers may waive the fee or offer better terms, group supports follow a specific rule, the claim uses the same item with the cancellation option, and an unusual number of cancellations should prompt the provider to find out why.
