A PCBU ensures, so far as reasonably practicable, that the workplace layout lets people enter, exit and move about safely in normal conditions and emergencies; work areas have enough space; floors and surfaces are designed, installed and maintained for safe work; lighting allows safe work, movement and emergency evacuation; ventilation allows safe work; workers in extremes of heat or cold can work without risk; and work near essential services (gas, electricity, water, sewerage) does not create risks.
