Section 3: Facilities – Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities

Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities 3.3c: 3.3 Consider period products where access to personal supplies may be limited

A lack of access to period products can affect health and safety through unhygienic conditions, health complications and stress. Where access to personal products may be limited, such as remote locations, long or irregular hours or when workers cannot easily reach personal belongings, it may be reasonably practicable to provide a range of period products. This could be a small supply of regular-absorbency pads in toilets that afford privacy with hygienic disposal. Products requiring sealed packaging, such as tampons, must be supplied in original packaging, while pads may be dispensed from a larger pack. Products should be in accessible, hygienic locations, with information on where to find them given through signage, induction or policy. This guidance was added in the December 2025 edition.
