Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities
Section 1: Introduction, duty holders and monitoring – Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities

Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities 1.1e: 1.1 Consult, cooperate and coordinate with other duty holders; identify needed facilities

A PCBU must consult, cooperate and coordinate with every other person with a duty on the same matter, so far as is reasonably practicable (WHS Act s 46), exchanging information about who is doing what. Which facilities are needed depends on the nature of the work (for example exposure to infectious material needing showers, changing needing change rooms and storage, standing or seated work, physical activity, and psychosocial exposure), the size, location and nature of the workplace (extent, travel between sites, temporary or permanent, nearby facilities, availability during night shifts, safe access, remote or isolated) and the number and composition of the workforce. Facilities should give privacy and security, and the needs of workers such as pregnant or lactating women or people with a disability should be designed in.
