Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities 1.1c: 1.1 Designers of structures, officers, workers and visitors hold their own duties

People who design and construct buildings and structures intended as workplaces must ensure so far as reasonably practicable that they are without risk (WHS Act s 22). Officers must exercise due diligence, including taking reasonable steps to make sure the business has and uses the resources and processes to eliminate or minimise risks from the environment and facilities (s 27). Workers must take reasonable care, follow reasonable instructions and cooperate with notified policies such as first aid and injury reporting, and use PPE as trained (s 28). Visitors and others must take reasonable care and follow reasonable instructions (s 29). One person may hold several duties and several people may hold the same one.
