Fall arrest systems (catch platforms, safety nets and individual fall arrest systems including anchorage lines or rails) stop a fall and reduce its impact. They must be used only where a fall prevention device or work positioning system is not reasonably practicable, or where those controls might not be fully effective alone. Equipment should be designed, made, selected and used to AS/NZS 1891; workers should be trained; equipment and anchorages should withstand fall forces; and the system should limit the distance fallen to the shortest possible.
