Section 4: Controlling the risks – Australia Model Code of Practice: Hazardous Manual Tasks

Australia Model Code of Practice: Hazardous Manual Tasks 4.8b: 4.8 Run a manual task training program and keep records

Training in the controls introduced should be given at induction and as part of an ongoing manual task risk control program to workers who carry out, supervise or manage hazardous manual tasks, in-house designers, engineers and officers responsible for selecting and maintaining plant or designing tasks, and HSRs. Content should cover manual task risk management and the hazards, the specific task risks and their controls, how to do manual tasks safely including mechanical aids, tools, equipment and safe work procedures, and how to report a problem or maintenance issue. Review the training program regularly and when work processes, systems, plant, controls or legislation change. Keep records of induction and training, such as the date, topics, trainer and signatures of the workers who attended.
