Keep work areas clean, tidy and free of clutter so workers do not take awkward postures or exert extra effort reaching around obstacles, and use clean, smooth, flat surfaces to cut the force needed to push and pull and prevent slips, trips and falls. Select lighting to suit the task and prevent awkward or sustained postures from low or excessive light, glare or reflection by adding lighting such as an articulated lamp, repositioning, adding or removing lights, changing diffusers or reflectors, improving light level or colour perception, changing item orientation to avoid shadows, cleaning fittings, using screens, visors, hoods, blinds or louvres, and controlling sunlight on workpieces, screens and surfaces by orienting them at 90 degrees to the light or screening.
