Australia Model Code of Practice: Hazardous Manual Tasks 4.6a: 4.6 Control whole-body and hand-arm vibration

For whole-body vibration the most effective approach is usually vibration-damped equipment and engine mountings. Other measures: better vehicle suspension and suspended operator seats with spring and damper elements, well maintained equipment and controls, workers adjusting seats properly and operating within the manufacturer's suggested speed or a speed that reduces vibration, and training on the risks, controls and how to use them. For hand-arm vibration, substitute manufacturing methods to remove the need for vibrating equipment, otherwise buy tools and equipment that produce less vibration. Workplace vibration guidance gives more detail.
