Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work
Section 4: Controlling risks in excavation work – Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work

Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work 4.5b: 4.5 Licensed shotfirers, blast management plans and notice to the regulator

Only a competent person licensed to use explosives and experienced in the work may use them. Before blasting begins, a blast management plan must be prepared, and authorised, by a licensed competent person. Where explosives are planned for excavation work the regulator must be notified; requirements differ between jurisdictions, so the WHS regulator where the blast will occur should be consulted. AS 2187.2-2006 gives further guidance on using explosives.
