Lasers must be designed, built and installed so nobody is accidentally irradiated, and laser equipment on plant must be protected so operators and others are not exposed to direct, reflected or diffused secondary radiation. Visual equipment for observing or adjusting lasers on plant must not create a risk from the beam. Lasers able to produce hazardous diffuse reflections or create a fire hazard, namely classes 3B and 4 as defined in AS 2397-2015, are banned from construction work. Any worker who operates a laser must have training on that equipment.
