Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work
Section 4: Controlling risks in excavation work – Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work

Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work 4.5a: 4.5 Plan the use of explosives: SWMS, competent advice and applicable laws

Using explosives in construction work makes it high risk construction work, so the PCBU has to make sure a SWMS exists before the work starts. Someone competent and experienced in controlled use of explosives for excavation should be asked for advice before any decision to use explosives. Possessing, storing, handling and using explosives must all comply with the dangerous substances, dangerous goods or explosives laws of the state or territory, and transport must follow the national code for road and rail transport of explosives.
