The PCBU must ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that everyone receives the information, training, instruction or supervision needed to protect them from risks arising from the business's work. What is given to a worker must be suitable and adequate for the type of work, the risks involved at the time it is provided and the controls in place, and it must be delivered, as far as reasonably practicable, in a way the person can readily understand. Training for excavation workers should cover how to use, wear, store and maintain PPE properly. Specific supervision duties also apply where a worker is likely to be exposed to hazardous chemicals, works with them by using, generating or handling them, or runs, tests, maintains, repairs or decommissions systems that store or handle them.
