Section 5: claims handling, investigations and decisions – Australia Life Insurance Code of Practice (CALI Life Code)

Australia Life Insurance Code of Practice (CALI Life Code) 5.40-5.41: Resolve inconsistencies without surveillance first; senior approval before any surveillance

Where claim information appears inconsistent with other information, the insurer first tries to resolve the inconsistency without surveillance by an investigator. If it cannot, the inconsistencies are documented and a senior team member or surveillance specialist reviews them and either resolves them without surveillance or approves surveillance.
