Safe operation under ACA fatigue relies on specialised, informed decisions, so all personnel involved in managing fatigue, especially in scheduling and management, hold the specific knowledge and skills to manage complex fatigue variables. The criteria: personnel operating or administering the fatigue system have fatigue knowledge relevant to their role, including the operator's policies and the physiological signs of fatigue; they can apply fatigue risk management in practice by demonstrating competence with TLIF0030 Apply a fatigue risk management system (drivers under ACA fatigue) or TLIF0031 Administer a fatigue risk management system (schedulers and those supervising drivers and scheduling staff), or an alternative equivalent, or a previously recognised fatigue management qualification completed before 1 July 2018; fatigue responsibilities are included in inductions for new roles or operating environments; knowledge is kept current through refreshers or reactive training after fatigue incidents or near misses; and the operator confirms that, beyond holding a qualification, personnel apply the fatigue standards effectively in the actual operating environment.
