The award applies to apprentices except where it says otherwise or special provisions apply. Apprentices may be taken on in the trades listed in clause 12.2(c) where an apprenticeship authority set up under State or Territory law has declared or recognised the trade. Subject to State law, an employer must not employ a junior who is not apprenticed in a trade or occupation covered by clause 12.
