Chapter 3: Client relationships, client money and best execution – ASIC Market Integrity Rules (Securities Markets) 2017 (Australia)

ASIC Market Integrity Rules (Securities Markets) 2017 (Australia) 3.8: Take reasonable steps to obtain the best outcome when handling and executing client orders

When handling and executing a client order a participant must take reasonable steps to obtain the best outcome: best total consideration for retail clients (unless validly instructed otherwise), and the relevant outcome for wholesale clients; it must not induce clients to give contrary instructions or waive disclosure, and must not charge different fees by execution venue unless the difference reflects actual cost.
