ASEAN Guidelines for Occupational Safety and Health
Section 5: Implementation procedures of the OSHMS in the organisation (5.1 to 5.14) – ASEAN Guidelines for Occupational Safety and Health

ASEAN Guidelines for Occupational Safety and Health 5.2: Systematic hazard identification by area, task or process, with workers and representatives involved and the findings listed for assessment

What does 5.2 require?

The enterprise should identify every situation in which people could be hurt or made ill, across physical, chemical, ergonomic, radiation, psychological and biological hazard groups. The guideline recommends splitting the site into numbered areas from an up-to-date plan and a work-flow chart, starting with the most hazardous areas, asking the people who work there to list what they regard as hazards and the chemicals they use, and consulting the safety and health representatives. Sources include worker reports, legal and industry information, incident and inspection reports and observation of tasks. The identified hazards are listed so that each can be risk assessed.
