Neither the inlet on the installation nor the socket on the generator may leave live parts touchable when unplugged or while the lead is being connected or removed. The inlet neutral pin is treated as live, so with the changeover at normal or off it must be cut off from the main switchboard neutral; a generator socket to one of the listed plug and socket standards (AS/NZS 3112, 3123, 3131, 60884.1 or IEC 60309-2) with IP2X terminals is deemed compliant (A1 relocated this from 4.3.2.4).
