Monthly: inspect the external bell or strobe marking the designated building entry point and its 'FIRE' label (characters at least 25 mm high); inspect the FIP, sub-indicator, repeater, brigade, mimic and fire fan control panels for visibility, access, cleanliness and door labels, and hold a spare frangible element and tool for manual call points that need them; inspect vented battery enclosures for corrosion; simulate an alarm and confirm the general visual and audible indications, the external alarm, the ASE signal and indication at the FIP from any sub-indicator panel; confirm an alarm starts the occupant warning system and visual warning devices; initiate an isolate or disable and confirm the indications and that the monitoring provider receives it; test filament indicators; and inspect zone block plans and supplementary zone drawings. Six-monthly, for special hazard system controls: check local control stations; inspect the DO NOT ENTER, EVACUATE, FIRE ALARM and SYSTEM INOPERATIVE visual warning devices; test each discharge inhibit or auto-manual switch (prevents automatic discharge, stops and resets the sequence, gives visual indication at the station and FIP and an audible indication, but does not override manual discharge); test the manual initiate switch through the full discharge sequence; confirm the system inoperative indicator operates for service switch isolation, actuator circuit fault, lock-off valve, manual inhibit and any detection fault that prevents discharge; test system logic and each output (warning devices, alarms, directional valves, equipment and HVAC fire mode, discharge actuator, door and damper release, ancillaries); test supervised actuator circuit faults; and function test each actuator with it mechanically isolated or removed from the agent supply, substituting an equivalent load for non-resettable pyrotechnic actuators.
