Yearly (with five-yearly elements): check for physical impediments that could impair exit pressurization, smoke exhaust, changeover and shutdown systems; check that building works, changes to the mechanical plant or accidental obstructions have not degraded the function or performance of the original design; for motorized relief openings, check draught curtains forming roof compartments and inlet openings have not been altered in ways that could stop them working; and for smoke reservoirs, check no changes (such as added light fittings or new openings) compromise their integrity.
