AS 1851:2012 Routine Service of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment 13.4.1-AD: 13.4.1.5 to 13.4.1.14 Air control dampers, smoke and heat vents, fire and smoke curtains and motorized relief openings

Air control dampers (recycle, relief, smoke spill and outdoor air; and supply, return and exhaust air on zone pressurization floors): six-monthly check operation fully open to fully closed (or between set positions) and freedom from obstruction, three-monthly where dedicated to fire mode and exposed to corrosive outside air; yearly also confirm movement to the fire mode or failure position on loss of power, leakage when fully closed, linkage and bearings, corrosion, and pneumatic air leaks. Automatic smoke and heat vents, every six months: check control panel and air supply, power supply, air filter and drain, air pressure, battery backup and operation on mains failure, and freedom of vents and components; yearly also check vents for damage, drain holes, ram dust covers, manual and automatic operation and time, replace painted fusible links and replace all links 25 years from manufacture. Fire and smoke curtains, to the manufacturer's instructions but no less than: six-monthly check obstructions and record changes nearby (monthly where they drop below 2.5 m), manual deployment from the panel, fabric, side tracks and the power supply unit outputs; yearly also top and bottom limits and soft ascent, record ascent and descent times, automatic deployment on alarm, gravity or other fail-safe deployment with all power removed, replace batteries more than two years old, motor control card voltages and stall-out, warning lights and sounders, obstruction warning, split or dual drop height and hold time, emergency retract and 25-year fusible link replacement. Motorized relief openings, windows and shutters, every six months: check the control centre and air supply, power indicator, drain and clean or replace pneumatic filters, record system pressure, battery backup and mains-fail operation, clean blades and rain channels, drain holes, ram covers, and manual open and close (investigate closing over 20 s); yearly also check air lines for alterations or damage, fusible links for type, rating and paint, control centres and supply lines, operation to system requirements, current installation plans and 25-year link replacement.
