Where fire protection systems interface with other systems, end-to-end tests are conducted to confirm that every interface works as the approved design intends, taking account of all interfacing fire protection systems (for example sprinkler or detection activation causing stair pressurization, door release, plant shutdown, lift override, smoke exhaust or damper closure, as in the example cause and effect diagram, Figure 1.12). The test is not a recommissioning of each system; interconnections within one integrated system are excluded. If a connected system would otherwise be cycled many times, it may be isolated after one full end-to-end test provided a signal is shown to reach it on the other tests. The responsible entity should coordinate the trades and notify occupants, and is responsible for the accuracy of the interface documentation. Worked examples are in informative Appendix D.
