The member sizes, bracing and connections in the Standard rest on the design bases of AS 1720.1 and AS 1684.1 and on the dead, live and wind loads of AS 4055, AS/NZS 1170.2 and AS/NZS 1170.1, all in limit state terms, with snow up to 0.2 kPa allowed for. Under Amendment 1 they suit domestic structures (timber-framed brick veneer included) no higher than 8.5 m at any section and with a kpZ of 0.11 or less under AS 1170.4 (replacing the 2010 earthquake design category wording). Vehicle loads and unreinforced masonry under earthquake load are outside the Standard.
