Bearing lengths for beams (bearers, lintels, hanging, strutting and counter beams, verandah beams) are as the Span Table notes set; otherwise every member except battens bears at least 30 mm at its ends or 60 mm where continuous, across its full breadth, with reduced bearing only where extra fixings give equivalent support and splayed joints giving an equivalent area.
