AS 1684.2:2021 Residential Timber-Framed Construction - Non-Cyclonic Areas 1.4.2: 1.4.2 Wind classification (N1 to N4)

Wind loads use the simplified non-cyclonic classifications N1 to N4 with the design gust speeds of Table 1.1, determined using either the AS/NZS 1170.2 wind actions standard or AS 4055. Where AS 4055 is used, its 8.5 m building height limit applies. Under Amendment 1, where AS/NZS 1170.2 gives the design gust speed, a classification is adopted from Table 1.1 and the ultimate limit state speed from AS/NZS 1170.2 may not exceed the Table 1.1 value for the class adopted (the 2010 text had allowed up to 5 % above it).
