ACT Residential Tenancies Act 1997
Part 3 and Schedule 1 clauses 14 to 23A: Bonds and condition reports – ACT Residential Tenancies Act 1997

ACT Residential Tenancies Act 1997 s23-25-cl17-20: ss 23 to 25, Regulation s 2, Sch 1 cls 17 to 20 Bond lodged with the Territory on time

A required bond must be lodged with the Office of Rental Bonds. Where the lessor takes it, the lessor gives the tenant a receipt and lodges the money with the prescribed notice (names and addresses for service of both parties, the premises, the rent and the bond amount) within 2 weeks after the later of receipt and the start of the tenancy, or within 4 weeks where the lessor's agent received it. Late lodgement is a strict liability offence for the lessor or agent. Where the parties agree the tenant lodges it, the tenant must have possession and keys once evidence of lodgement is given.
