ACT Residential Tenancies Act 1997
Part 3 and Schedule 1 clauses 14 to 23A: Bonds and condition reports – ACT Residential Tenancies Act 1997

ACT Residential Tenancies Act 1997 s20-22-cl14-16: ss 20 to 22, Sch 1 cls 14 to 16 Bond limits

A bond is optional; if the lessor requires one it may be no more than the first 4 weeks' rent, and only one bond may be taken for an agreement. Where a tenancy rolls into a consecutive agreement with at least one continuing tenant, no new bond may be taken unless a bond release application has been made for the old one; otherwise the existing bond carries over. A guarantee or indemnity accepted with or instead of a bond is enforceable only up to the gap between the bond paid and the 4-week maximum.
