Designers, manufacturers and suppliers of plant or structures with a confined space must eliminate the need to enter it or make entry safe and give information. A business must manage risks associated with a confined space and with work in it, must not allow entry without a written confined space entry permit that identifies the space, the workers, the period, the controls and the atmosphere test results and that is signed off on completion, must control entry and signpost the space, test and keep the atmosphere safe, provide communication and monitoring from outside, establish emergency procedures and rescue equipment, train workers, and keep permits and training records for the prescribed periods.
